Harmful Effects of Fat Burners

Harmful Effects of Fat Burners 2

Losing weight and getting rid of your excess body fat is not an easy task. To achieve these goals, you will need to exercise regularly and carefully watch what and how much you eat. However, there are supposedly some items available in the market which can help you ‘cheat’ and lose weight and get rid of your body fat by simply swallowing a pill.

One such apparent pill type is ‘fat burners’. The technical term for this type of product is thermogenic products. What a fat burner does is induce extra heat inside your body and then use that heat and your body’s metabolic system to burn off fat.

While these fat burners are marketed as miracle pills that you can use to get rid of fat and lose weight without making any effort, they actually have some risky side effects which you need to be aware of if you are considering taking this short cut.

#1. Dangerous and undeclared ingredients

Unfortunately, there is a large demand for fat burners, and because of this, a large number of manufacturers have started producing their own brands of fat burners. As the competition is so fierce, some manufacturers add extra ingredients that are not listed among the ingredients of the pill, in order to gain an advantage over their rivals.

In 2015 alone, the FDA discovered over 20 different brands of fat burners that had dangerous and unlabeled ingredients inside them. These unlabeled ingredients can have all sorts of negative and dangerous side effects, such as increasing the likelihood of having a stroke, heart attack, cancer and seizures. This alone is a major reason to avoid fat burners.

#2. Liver Damage

Some brands of fat burners have been documented to be the direct cause for liver damage in people who used them. A few times over the past decade, some brands of fat burners have had to be banned from the market after they led to the hospitalizations of a number of people due to liver damage after taking the pills. For the sake of your liver, you should stay away from fat burners.

#3. Adverse impact on the heart

The majority of fat burner pills have ingredients which cause an increase in heart rate and blood pressure. One common ingredient of fat burners is bitter orange. Consuming bitter orange has been linked to heart attacks and strokes in previously healthy people. This alone is an important reason to avoid fat burners.
