For most ladies unwanted facial hair can be a source of great concern and low self-esteem. This unwanted hair often crops up on the chin, above the upper lip, and between the eyebrows leaving the unlucky lady feeling unattractive. Many have tried hair remover creams, or have succumbed to a daily routine of tweezing and plucking before covering their faces with heavy make-up. However, none of these remedies are very effective and often leave the skin rough and bumpy. If you are one of these ladies, do not despair! There is a great and effective way to get rid of your facial hair using a very simple ingredient (which you may already have in your spice cupboard): turmeric!
All you need is about a tablespoon of turmeric powder and some water or milk. Note, however, that the paste can stain your fingers and nails so it may be advisable to wear gloves or use a brush when applying it. Make a thick paste by soaking the powder in the water/milk, apply to the facial area where you have excess hair, and leave it on for a few minutes. Once it dries, use a cloth dipped in warm water to wipe away the turmeric and the hair too.
Traditionally, women in many Indian homes regularly used a face pack made by mixing gram flour or besan with turmeric. This was said to have the ability to remove the excess hair on the face, particularly around the mouth and chin. Just mix equal amounts of besan and turmeric, and add a little water to make a thick paste. Apply to the problematic part of the face, leave on until it dries totally, then dip a cloth in warm water and use to rub off this face mask. You will find that along with the besan mixture, the strands of hair are also removed.
Alternatively, you can mix in a little curd or cream to the besan-turmeric paste and apply for an equally effective hair removal remedy. This will also give you the added advantage of moisturising your face.
So put down all those expensive creams and razors and try this great and effective home remedy. Your face will thank you for it.
